Development Associate
Shawna is an educator-activist-fundraiser, committed to dissecting and challenging systems of power. Currently serving as the Development Associate for MOWOCNC, she brings her passion for social justice to the forefront in her work to reduce food insecurity and loneliness among older adults. In addition to her advocacy work, Shawna teaches developmental English writing classes and is pursuing her Ph.D. in Health Communication with a specialized focus on critical disability studies. Her research delves into the intersections of aging, body politics, social media, and various forms of art-making. Through her academic endeavors, she seeks to amplify marginalized voices, reshape narratives, and foster understanding in diverse communities.
