Celebrating 45 Years of Impact

More than a Meal

Meals on Wheels Orange County, NC (MOWOCNC) nourishes and enriches the lives of older adults through meal delivery and personal connections.

We provide access to needed services, opportunities for human connection, and support the efforts of older adults to live in place with dignity. We envision a time when we will have the capacity to serve all older adults who qualify and have access to our services. Delivering meals and building relationships takes work. It takes committed staff, dedicated volunteers, generous donors and a compassionate community.  The work can be challenging, but it can also be life-changing. And the impact can be felt by the individuals served as well as their families, friends, and larger community.

45 Years and Counting

Ove the past 45 years, we've grown from delivering four meals in our first delivery to 270 meals per weekday today! We've been able to do so because of the support of incredible volunteers and committed donors. For 45 years, we've stood firm in our core values of community, inclusion, respect, and excellence. And collectively, we will remain devoted to these standards in the years to come.

We believe our services enhance the quality of life for our recipients, strengthening their ability to age in place with dignity -- regardless of their life history, health status, or financial means.

Goals for Good

How we care for older adults in society can be seen as a measure of the strength and health of the overall community – providing  sustenance, connection, and support. We have set strategic goals to respond to the needs of our community, neighbors, and organization because we care deeply for those we serve, and about issues that impact the lives of older adults.

Dreaming Ahead

Over the next five years, we’re set to transform our organization to better serve older adults across Orange County. With your support we can:

  • Diversify our meal options to meet medical and cultural needs
  • Offer weekend meals to ensure no one goes hungry
  • Amplify our outreach programs to help mitigate social isolation and loneliness
  • Expand access to our services in unserved and underserved communities across the county
  • Strengthen our referral network to support recipients’ other needs

The need for committment continues

MOWOCNC is grateful for the tremendous community support that has kept us serving for 45 years. Your commitment now will ensure that we can continue to serve our current recipients while still having the capacity to outreach to those still in need. More funding supports more meals, which supports more knocks on doors, more friendly check-ins, more human connection, and a stronger, more interconnected community. Your dollars have the power to do so much good!
